Get Your Server Here.

http://69.90.34.150/unreal/JZCoopStartupserver/ JZCoop Version

Seems that everyone eventually wants an unreal server for some reason. To test maps on or just to run a Lan game to play friends or family. I will always help someone who wants to get a server running and spend many hours debugging and helping. So why not make it easier since people will do this anyway. This is set up as a DM server but can run Uteam or Coop or any of its mutators, including monstermash or INF.

First you must have an Unreal One cd. Epic files are not included in this install. You must do a clean install of unreal and apply the 225 patch found in our download section. This new install should run and at this point dont worry about setting it up. Just make sure it runs.

You then install this quickserver install found in this post. This will install files over the top of your new 225 install. This will be a dedicated 225 Uteam10G server, setup for Pure KOTH.

I have installed the pip skins, fixed big khuna skins, flexmaps, kickban and Nepthys Lite. It also includes Sniperparadises server add mod.

There is a beginning maps package installed with flex maps to get you going hopefully easy.

After the install navigate to the unreal folder and you will notice an Unreal Icon inside the folder. Clicking this Icon will start a dedicated server and an Unreal icon will appear in your task bar. (The start command is also in a text document in the unreal folder). You can right click on this task bar icon, once you have launched the server, to set options for the server or to see the server console. It doesnt take much of a computer to run this dedicated server. I have ran them on celeron 500s quite easily. I do not suggest you run the server and play on the same computer if others are going to play.

This is set to do uplinks to the master server and will do so if you dont change it. The manuals explaining uteam and the other mods will be found in the help folder in the unreal folder. If it doesnt show on the server list, its most likely you or your router and not this server. I would suggest setting the uplink and server beacons to off while you customize your server and fine tune the settings. I have set an admin password but you but will have to dig in the advanced options for it. :!:

Read the manuals in the help folder they are very smart and written by people much more savy than me.

You may delete the uninstall program from unreal found in the folder.

Good luck, have fun.

Sparky
Ps map rotation is at a rate of one minute for each map for testing purpose,, read the manuals!

Post install problems here to help others.

To me this sounds like a wrong portforward on the router.
Maybe u wanna run the unrealserver behind ur router on diffrent ports and forward them to those ports.

Anyways, good thing ur able to run ur server from home :)

I'd love to have a lower ping sometimes... i'd like to try it.
Is it up 24/7 ?

Re: Netgear DG834G and server list problem[solved]

BeachBumGuy-(DOG)- wrote:Hello,
Just one nice packed up server ready for shipping. Thank You Sparky,
amazing idea and great gift for the community.Downloading right now.
There's an admin fever going on here at the moment.... hehehe.
Fixed that router problem with a new switch and a modem. If anybody's interested, here is what happened:
Built a small unreal server pc and connected it to a Netgear DG834G modem router. Connected other
PC with unreal client but all I got was the test server only in the lan browser tab and not in the Internet tab
of the unreal internal server browser. With the help of Sparky we tried everthing, shut down DHCP and firewall,
put static ips, tweaked Unreal.ini and set it up correctly, Nephthys Server Uplinks were bound to masterservers, but
nothing.Following Sparky's advice, I took the server off the LAN and plugged a Dlink DSL-302T modem to the server and straight to internet and ,bingo, the server was right there in the internet list. Got an Atlantis Ethernet switch today and wired all the hardware. Other Pc can see the game in list now and connects with a nice 19 ms ping.We concluded the the
problem was router related and not server side.
With this new tested and working "server quickstart" it will be much easier to go bug hunting in case somthing doesn't workthe way it should on your lan.Installing all the mods and mutators can be frustrating , just one simple mistake, one wrong version and your server will crash and you'll have to spend hours reading ini lines and console logs. Worst case you got to install all over again one by one, time consuming indeed.
Cheers to all the admins,
BBG :)
I agree with Wever - I have a Netgear DG834G - and Wever and Sparky have both connected to my local server at some point without any issues + TS server too. I have run unreal local LANed too with no-probs.
Think this was your Netgear setup BBG you need to build the firewall services and add them as rules.

Not possible. Why?Who knows,it is a conondrum. Not even the DMZ works.
227 release fixed that issue.
The router Im talking about is the Netgear WGR614 V6.
I can host anything but a 225 server with that router. :?:
I dont see what the router has to do with anything to do with running an unreal server -
I work in telecomms; there is NO reason a modern router would not route any particular packets if configured correctly, they are just packets.

If the router has a firewall you can "temp" disable it - routing will work - no forwarding required.

You can then start to apply your firewall rules as required

Good to know that DG834G works with 225f. Now this puzzles me even more....
Yes I built the services and here are the ports that I forwarded to the ip (192.168.0.10)where the server is running.
game port is 7777 so then
( from unreal reference)
* UDP 7775 and 7776 are used only for LAN games. You don't need to route them through a firewall.
* UDP 7777 is for gameplay.
* UDP 7778 is for server querying.
* UDP 7779+ are allocated dynamically for each helper UdpLink objects, including UdpServerUplink objects.
UDP 27900 is for server querying, if you enable the master server uplink. Some master servers use other ports, like 27500.
for Nephthys uplink to masterserver seven uplink object are allocated on mine so I forwarded the following udp ports
7779 7780 7781 7782 7783 7784 7785
Put them all in the inbound firewall rules, allow all these ports to the server IP. All open on outbound rules.
Updated the router firmware too.
Also tried server on another pc with a clean windoz install + sparkys package, but with same results
Good to know that DG834G works with 225f. Also tried different port ( 3000 ) same results.
Services I set up seem correct to me or am I missing something? :?:
BBG :)
BBG open your router firewall first (allow all UDP, TCP - in and out) - unreal should just work - no forwarding required.

If is doenst work - look at your op-sys - Windows firewall will block unreal (and it didnt report anything it was blocking) (and any other firewall u use (zonealarm is a no no - get rid of it + and if you do use zonealarm - tell me because you will need some more instructions)).

So, disable windows firewall to test unreal server

When all filtering(firewalls are off) unreal server should just work.... No additional config required...

Then when you get unreal working without firewalls start putting in your rules/service again.

Client or server crashes?

i.e. What is the nature of the crash?

Are you connecting to as a LAN - you have to if it is on you LAN?

### you running server on same box as client?

I was not clear at this point, i meant connecting to BBG's server :)
Seemed he was busy, now he changed some stuff now, gonna try it tonight.

My own MM-server runs smoothly from home :)

Been there, tried that, didn't work.I know how it's "supposed" to work Dave,it just doesn't with that router.
Like I said,it's a conundrum.Theoretically it should work.With 225 it just doesn't.
I understand what you're saying John... and it can be problematic to setup - but this is a fundimental router configuration(i.e. what they are explicitly designed for)... but anyway BBG has same router as me :) and it works fine for me so should for him too.

BTW - BBG my NG router is a DG843G V2 (see base plate for exact version) with Firmware V3.01.31 installed on it. I did a software upgrade to this version to get improved WPKA-PSK.

If Wever is crasing your server then ther is something wrong with your server :)
But it means he is connecting to it :) - next time look in the server log to see whats is happening... as he connects..

BBG has put his server online at a gamehost.
Its strange having a ping <50 :)

When he puts up a server from home, he can ask if we can try it out again to see what happens.
